The grid has always played an important role in my work. Perhaps on a personal level it’s importance was cemented in my technical drawing foundation. Regardless, the grid has been the foundation of much construction, demarcation and exploration throughout human history. In these ways, the grid has been used to measure, define and record. Indeed, the grid has intrinsically affected how we respond to, and perceive, our environment and our place within it. I use the grid, in some form, in much of my work as a means of organization and enjoy working with its geometry as I push and pull space and color in response.
